With the world still on lockdown, economies shrinking, and trips to the shops feeling more like Ninja Warrior than Supermarket Sweep – it’s fair to say that this whole Coronavirus “thing” is still no laughing matter.

The most successful brands on social are the ones who managed to relate to the everyday lives of their audience – but those everyday lives are all about the Big C right now – and it’s not something anyone wants to joke about

But here’s the thing.

Jokes about Covid-19 – of course not – no one wants to trivialise this pandemic.

But jokes about life right now? Absolutely. They’re fair game – and if anything, we need them.

“Lockdown means we haven’t been able to see my girlfriend’s parents for months. But it’s not all good news.”

“The days have started blurring into one, so at least I know the gin works.”

“The suspect is described as wearing a mask and behaving suspiciously, which narrows it down to everybody.”

In my email yesterday I spoke about the benefits of taking a stand your audience agrees with – and if there’s one issue you can safely take a stand against it’s this pandemic.

Whatever your take on how it started, why it got so bad, and who’s to blame – there aren’t many people who are “for” it.

Our lives have changed. And those changes might be here to stay for a while yet.

Instead of telling your audience “we’re all in this together” – with the 213,000th god-awful “us on Zoom” Ad they’ll see this year – it’s time to show them instead.

Now’s probably a good time to mention that we’re days away from launching our Pay As You Go Summer Content Packs.=

Commission 20, 40, 80 or 160 pieces of bespoke hand-crafted comedy content – and just come back for more once you’ve used it all up and you’re hungry for more of the same.

No rolling contract. No monthly commitment. It’s Comedy Content in pure Pay As You Go fashion.
