But How Does Comedy Work for Plumbing?

Last week, I got on a call with a plumber from Florida.

Great guy. Successful business. About 15 technicians working for him. But he had the same question I hear from almost everyone who is interested in comedy marketing:

"This all sounds great, but how does humour actually work for plumbing?"

I get it. It is easy to see how comedy works for Dollar Shave Club or Old Spice. They are selling trivial products to people who want to be entertained. But plumbing? Dog training? B2B software? Accounting services? How do you make a blocked drain funny without looking like you do not take your customers' problems seriously?

The secret is not making your product funny

Here is what I told him. The secret is not making your product funny. It is making the experience of needing your product relatable.

Think about it. Nobody wakes up excited about calling a plumber. But everyone has hilarious (in hindsight) stories about DIY disasters, emergencies, or the panic of realising something is broken at the worst possible time.

That is your comedy goldmine right there.

Instead of posting about "professional drain cleaning services", you post about the universal experience of standing in ankle-deep water at 6am, frantically googling "how to fix this myself" while your spouse gives you that look. (You know the one.)

Suddenly you are not just another plumber. You are the plumber who gets it. Who understands exactly what your customers are going through.

The same principle works for any business

  • Dog trainers do not joke about obedience techniques. They joke about the chaos of living with an untrained puppy. (Like finding your favourite shoes have been "redesigned" by a teething Golden Retriever.)
  • Accountants do not make fun of tax law. They make fun of the panic everyone feels when they realise it is March and they have not organised a single receipt. (Shoebox filing system, anyone?)
  • B2B software companies do not joke about their features. They joke about the nightmare of managing everything in spreadsheets. (Colour-coded chaos that somehow gets worse every time you try to fix it.)

See the pattern? You are not making light of the solution. You are connecting over the shared frustration that makes your solution necessary in the first place.

And here is the beautiful part. When someone laughs at your content, they are essentially saying, "Yes, I have this exact problem!" Which means every engagement comes from someone who actually needs what you are selling.

The trouble is that most people understand the concept but do not know how to execute it consistently. How do you find these relatable moments? How do you turn them into actual content? How do you make sure it is funny and not just awkward?

Meet Brian

That is exactly what Brian, our AI Comedy Marketing Assistant, does.

He does not just generate random jokes. He helps you identify the specific frustrations your audience faces, then turns those into content that is genuinely funny and strategically valuable.

Whether you are selling plumbing services, dog training, or enterprise software, Brian knows how to find the comedy in your customers' world.

Try Brian and see how he adapts comedy frameworks to YOUR specific business. Even if your business involves sewage, spreadsheets, or anything else that seems inherently unfunny. Trust me, there is comedy gold in there somewhere.
