This tweet capitalises on two fundamental truths:
- Everyone loves moaning about the weather.
- Twitter loves a funny list.
In fact, we love them too. List-based gags like this are a great opportunity for comedy writers to show off their ability to pack multiple laughs into a single social media post. Note how this example follows the number one rule of comedy: escalation, escalation…ESCALATION! The list items get increasingly obscure as the list progresses — and it’s this highly imaginative weirdness that makes the post delightfully funny.
