Since Elon Musk bought Twitter…

…(And re-branded it into the internationally recognised symbol for “wrong answer”, “make it stop” and “Simon Cowell thinks you suck ❌”)…

…He’s come up with a lot of ways to try and find new revenue streams.

One of which is charging to remove the infamous character limit. 

Which is an interesting way to ensure only rich people can share a complete thought. 

Nonetheless…

It got me thinking about the opposite. 

Would you pay to read a Tweet? 

Probably not, right? 

But what about a whole bunch of Tweets packaged up…?

Jimmy Carr – one of Britain’s best comedians – is famous for his one-liners.

(Well, that and his iconic laugh. And repeatedly getting “cancelled”. And the whole tax scandal thing. I guess what I’m saying is the boy’s got range.) 

In short, Carr tells the type of joke that you could fit into a Tweet… 

Well, let’s play this out and see if we can find a way for businesses to make some money… 

Seeing one of Jimmy’s 60-minute standup shows costs about £50 – and would total around 12,000 words… 

Given that’s mostly one-liners – we could equate the show to about 240 Tweets. 

So would you pay £50 to read 240 Tweets?

It’s a hard ❌ from me. 

Now, you’re probably yelling at the screen, telling me a standup show is more than just the words – it’s the experience*.
